Black Friday 2024: Everything you need to know
Let’s cut to the chase: Black Friday isn’t just about battling crowds for flat-screen TVs anymore. It’s your golden ticket to globe-trotting adventures without breaking the bank. While everyone else is elbowing their way through department stores for deep discounts on early Christmas presents, savvy travellers are quietly snagging hotel deals and plotting escapes that’ll make their Instagram followers weep with envy.
We’re keeping our cards close to our chest for now, but the art’otel Black Friday deals and vacation steals are shaping up to be the stuff of legends, with some of our most sought-after rooms going for prices that’ll make you double-take.
When is Black Friday 2024?
November 29 is the day to circle on your calendar. Want an insider scoop? Don’t think of Black Friday as just a one-day sprint — think of it more as a bargain-hunting marathon. The deals start dancing days before then and keep grooving well into Cyber Monday (December 2). We’ll be throwing out plenty of hotel deals and vacation steals well before so keep your eyes peeled.

When do the deals end?
Offers generally wrap up on Cyber Monday, so be quick. Booking earlier means you’ll also have total freedom over dates too. Take some time over the weekend to bag the best Black Friday flight deals and get your itinerary sorted.
Booked the room and bagged a bargain? Now the real fun begins.
Here’s our curated list of must-try experiences that’ll turn your good vacation into an unforgettable adventure. All funded by the money you saved in the Black Friday sales, of course.
Explore God’s Own Junkyard
Who would have thought it: after years of searching, the promised land was tucked away in North-East London all along. Filled wall-to-wall with salvaged signs and neon props, God’s Own Junkyard is an artsy homage to the bright lights of Vegas, Tokyo and Times Square. Entrance is free (hallelujah), but you’ll want to come ready to spend — most of what you see is up for sale. If you don’t feel like taking home the ultimate statement souvenir, stock up on selfies and grab a cocktail (or two) at the brilliantly named Rolling Scones café.
Devour Croatia’s best dim sum
Our table of choice for rainbow cod dumplings, wasabi prawns and the like has to be pan-Asian restaurant and teahouse YEZI. The house staples of har gau (delicate prawn dumplings with squid ink) and sui mai (bite-sized, open-top pork dumplings topped with truffle) fill the air with a symphony of scents that transforms this corner of Zagreb into a slice of Hong Kong heaven. The slow-cooked beef short ribs that almost melt in your mouth are always popular but for an underrated alternative, try the Korean spiced lamb cutlets, each perfectly charred on the outside and blushing pink within.
Eat your weight in Pasta
When in Rome, eat as the Romans do — and they’re eating at either Armando al Pantheon or Borghiciana Pastificio Artigianale. These pasta temples serve up carb-loaded poetry with flavours that’ll linger in your mouth longer after the plates are cleared. Whether you choose the historic charm of Armando or the artisanal magic of Borghiciana, you’re in for a romantic feast that’ll have you speaking Italian love languages to your tagliatelle. Pro tip: book ahead or prepare to join the line of pasta pilgrims.
Indulge in some retail therapy
The view out your window at art’otel London Battersea isn’t just architectural eye candy — it’s retail therapy on steroids. The industrial-chic playground that is Battersea Power Station houses everything from local designers to global brands, all under those famous chimneys. Think Chanel, Mulberry, adidas, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, and the like. Treat yourself and shop ‘till you drop (or just can’t carry any more). If you do need to make a pit stop, we’d recommend hitting up TOZI for the salt beef rye. Always our go-to bite that’s destined to be munched riverside.
Dine sky-high at REM Eiland
If Scaramanga ran a rooftop restaurant in Amsterdam, it would look something like this. Towering eighty feet above the water, the set menus of REM Eiland serve up perfectly seared sea bass and tournedos (tiny, round cuts of beef) alongside some of the best skyline views in the city. The only thing more spectacular than the setting is the structure’s history. Once an oil rig turned pirate radio and television station in the 1960s, it was towed from the North Sea to Amsterdam before being turned into a destination restaurant in 2011. Definitely one for the ‘gram and an experience worthy of your time and money.
