Decollage Workshop
Workshop with our Artist in Residence Kate Adelskaya
This workshop introduces participants to décollage, a technique, rooted in 20th-century avant-garde art, in which layers of posters and printed materials are torn, cut, or scraped away to reveal new visual compositions. Through hands-on experimentation, participants explore texture, colour, and urban imagery. The workshop encourages intuitive, physical engagement with materials. It resonates with contemporary discussions on consumer culture, sustainability (through reuse of printed materials), and personal expression.
Workshop structure:
1. Brief intro to décollage + visual examples
2. Demonstration of technique
3. Guided creation of individual artworks
4. Group sharing and discussion
Materials provided. Participants will leave with a finished artwork and an understanding of décollage as a creative and expressive medium.
