Meet August's Artist in Residence
Meet Jacelyn Zhen
Jacelyn is a visual artist and designer from Singapore, based in London. Creating under her moniker Bbblob, she imagines a dreamlike world shaped by her language in form and colour. Her practice sits between painting and object making, working across painting, sculpture, textiles and murals. Guided by the interaction of forms, her work traces transience and movement assembled from landscapes and built environments. Jacelyn reflects on identity through nature, particularly her interest in plants. Influenced by the nature growing up in Singapore, observing natural patterns became a way of understanding the self, an inner landscape shifting and adapting.
She graduated with a Masters in Painting at the Royal College of Art. Jacelyn has exhibited works internationally including White Conduit Projects, Saatchi Gallery and Uprise Art. Her work has been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and Singapore Art Week. Her commissioned projects include murals for Elephant Trust London and CapitaLand. She also collaborates on public artworks and interior projects.
