Rome in June is one of the best times of year to visit. The weather is beautiful and sunny, the city feels lively and, on top of everything, it’s Pride month.
Rome Pride is rooted in visibility and rights, as much as it is a celebration, and is a city-wide statement of belonging that’s built on decades of activism.
A stay at art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio places you close to the city’s historic centre and near some of the best Pride and LGBTQ+ hotspots.
A brief history of Pride in Rome
Rome hosted its first official Pride in 1994, and the event has since grown into one of Italy’s most significant annual LGBTQ+ gatherings.
In 2000, Rome also hosted WorldPride, and today the Eternal City continues Pride as a rights-focused public demonstration.
This year, Pride is on 20 June, with supporting events throughout the rest of the month. The parade usually draws thousands of visitors, so make sure you arrive at your viewing point early in the day.
Rome Pride 2026 events
You can see the Rome Pride parade on 20 June. The detailed route and timings are typically confirmed closer to the day, so it’s worth keeping an eye on Rome Pride’s website as the parade date approaches.
What to expect during Rome Pride, based on previous years:
- A central city parade that has often started near Piazza della Repubblica and travelled through major historic streets towards the Colosseum area.
- A broader programme including talks, screenings and workshops.
- A Pride park-style hub that runs across multiple evenings with cultural programming.
