Amsterdam’s best concert venues
The right Amsterdam concert venue depends on what you want to hear. The city’s largest venues are concentrated around Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA, while established music halls across central Amsterdam offer everything from alternative rock to jazz and orchestral performances.
Johan Cruijff ArenA
The Johan Cruijff ArenA is the setting for Amsterdam’s largest concert productions. Alongside its regular football calendar, the stadium welcomes international tours and large-scale dance events such as AMF.
The 2027 concert calendar currently includes Roxy Dekker, KAROL G and two nights with Oasis. With relatively few concerts compared with the city’s dedicated music venues, each announcement tends to be a major addition to Amsterdam’s events calendar.
The stadium sits beside Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station, making it accessible from central Amsterdam by direct train or Metro 54.
Ziggo Dome
The Ziggo Dome hosts major pop, rock, electronic and live entertainment shows throughout the year. Its extensive calendar makes it one of the first venues to check when searching for international artists in Amsterdam.
Confirmed 2027 performers include John Summit, James Blunt, Charli xcx, Teddy Swims, Jorja Smith, Greta Van Fleet and Simply Red.
The venue is in the same Amsterdam-Zuidoost entertainment district as the Johan Cruijff ArenA and AFAS Live. All three venues are a short walk from Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station.
AFAS Live
AFAS Live combines established touring artists with emerging performers, electronic events and special live productions.
Its varied 2027 calendar ranges from Cage The Elephant and Malcolm Todd to Passenger, Angèle and Take That. Eurovision in Concert 2027 will also take place at the venue on 3 April, bringing performers from the upcoming contest to Amsterdam.
AFAS Live is located close to the Ziggo Dome and directly opposite Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station.
More live music venues in Amsterdam
Amsterdam’s concert scene extends well beyond its stadium and arena district. Several of its most recognised venues are found closer to the city centre, with programmes spanning alternative music, intimate gigs, jazz and classical performance.
Paradiso and Melkweg
Paradiso has presented concerts, club nights and cultural events in Amsterdam since 1968. Its programme crosses genres including indie, rock, pop, electronic music, jazz and hip-hop, with events taking place in its main building and at partner venues across the city.
In February 2027, multidisciplinary Dutch pop artist Wende will perform three concerts at Paradiso around the release of her new album. Later in the year, Dutch rock group Tröckener Kecks will return to its main hall as part of a reunion tour.
A short distance away, Melkweg presents concerts in several spaces near Leidseplein. Its programme is particularly useful for discovering alternative, pop and emerging artists, with English indie-pop artist Nieve Ella among the performers confirmed for 2027.
The Concertgebouw
For classical music, orchestral performances and contemporary composition, explore the programme at The Concertgebouw. Its calendar includes hundreds of performances across its Main Hall and Recital Hall, from major orchestras and soloists to chamber music and free lunchtime concerts.
The venue is situated by Museumplein, making it easy to combine a concert with Amsterdam’s leading art museums.
For further choice, look at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ for contemporary and international music or BIMHUIS for jazz. Both are based at Piet Heinkade, close to Amsterdam’s waterfront and within easy reach of Amsterdam Centraal Station.
Sporting events in Amsterdam in 2026 and 2027
