Where to see Banksy art in London
In the blur of London’s buses and brickwork, Banksy’s art stands out as a guerrilla footnote to the city. His politically relevant work and unpredictable stunts have cemented him as an icon. While he’s one of the world’s most elusive artists, his artwork certainly isn’t. If you’re wandering the streets of London and know where to look without using a map, you can see many of Banksy’s pieces for free. One of the easiest locations to start is Shoreditch. Two original Banksy artworks are displayed on the exterior of art’otel London Hoxton and can be viewed free of charge from the street.
On the street
Knife‑and‑Fork Rat & TV Out of the Window, art’otel London Hoxton
Two classic early-2000s Banksy stencils from The Foundry days, once hidden for years, now live above the entrance to art’otel London Hoxton and are viewable from the street.
Three Monkeys, Brick Lane, Shoreditch
Three Monkeys swinging under the Overground bridge were part of Banksy’s August 2024 animal series and are still visible.
Elephants, Corner of Edith Terrace and Edith Grove, Chelsea
Two elephants facing each other on a house wall are also from the 2024 animal series. They were cleaned after an earlier defacement and are still on view.
Rhino on a Nissan Micra, Westmoor Street, Charlton
This large rhino silhouette appeared in August 2024. It was tagged soon after, while the Nissan Micra that formed part of the scene was later removed. But the rhino mural remains on Westmoor Street.
Pelicans Eating Fish, Bonner’s Fish Bar, Walthamstow
Two pelicans enjoying their own fish supper on the side wall of the shop continue to draw a steady stream of visitors.
Gorilla, London Zoo
A rebellious gorilla lifting a shutter to let animals out appeared at London Zoo as the ninth piece in the 2024 animal series and was widely reported as its finale.
Tree, Hornsey Road
It’s perpetually spring on a street in Finsbury Park. Green paint sprayed behind a recently pruned tree creates a burst of “foliage,” with a small sprayer figure beside it.
Yellow Flower, Corner of Pollard Row and Pollard Street, Bethnal Green
The bright yellow flower from 2007 still stands, although the original painter figure has suffered over time. It is still worth a detour for the surviving bloom.
Indoors but free
Cargo Courtyard, 83 Rivington Street, Shoreditch
Among Banksy’s early London stencils are pieces often referred to as Guard Dog and His Master’s Voice. The courtyard is free to enter when open, although opening hours may vary.
Leake Street “Banksy Tunnel” Waterloo
Banksy’s 2008 Cans Festival helped turn this underpass into London’s best-known legal graffiti tunnel. This living gallery is constantly changing and remains closely tied to Banksy’s London story.
